Well, time for me to come 'out of the shadows', and say it here.
I am the creator of the petition that is being discussed here (see the convenient register date of mine, too), and have been sneaking about this thread for a bit. I was mostly trying to blend in at first, but I figured it's better if I just come out in the open.
So, I hope you don't mind me popping in. If anyone has anything to ask, or recommend or something, go right ahead.
As for the thing about thank you cards: Skaadi, the petition itself
is my thank you card to Russell. So if you could somehow make sure he sees it, that'd be great. Might be a bit tough due to Eidos' persistence in removing any references to it, but eh. Freedom of speech, right?
Thanks for making this. I feel better signing this than I do signing a 'happy trails' appreciation card...as well intentioned as it might be.

Hope we don't mind? You taffer! I think just about everyone here is grateful you created that petition. Welcome to ttlg.:D

From another thread...
Quote:
- "it's possible that if gamers make enough noise about this, Stephen Russell can be persuaded to perform this feat."This was in regards to getting Stephen Russell back to do the voice of Garrett...implying that it might be possible to get him to come back and have him do the mocap...although I don't see that as being necessary. The magic of Garrett is Stephen's vocal performance.
Lets keep the pressure on.

Welcome. :)
If you read the messages, there are references. Eidos kindly ask that this not be the focus of the messages for the thank you card; and that is a fair and reasonable request. :)
Thank you for the welcome. And well, the petition itself is something of an appreciation card for Russell, as I've said. Instead of telling him thank you for the experiences, I'm telling him that my time with him has been so memorable, I want him back again. Since that's the entire point of my thank you, I guess I can't really participate. I don't really mind, though, just saying.
I apologize if I sounded a bit impolite towards Eidos in my previous post, but from what I've heard from people I know, it's like they are doing this on purpose. And that, if it's true, is a pretty not cool thing to do.

You're welcome. As soon as I saw the voice change, I just knew I had to express my disagreement. It's a really irrational thing to do, especially seeing how they said they're true fans of the original games and claimed that we won't be disappointed.

Hehe, thanks! :) And well, I don't know. Everyone seems to be passionate about this as much as I am, but there are a few people who wish to give this new guy a chance, so just saying.

I have actually recieved an e-mail informing me of this, and the person who sent it to me also told me it was in a gaming magazine. It said that if there is enough of us, that Eidos might reconsider. It gives me quite a bit of hope and morale.

I'm a regular fan like any other, so no need to apologise at all; its not a problem. :)
If you mean close petition threads on the official site; then yes, this is on purpose. This is because EM have made up their mind and no amount of signatures will change it. EM responded via their blog and on their first community video, which fully explained the reasons for their decision.
It doesn't seem a cool thing to do, no, but if the petition was allowed to remain on site then that might suggest hope to some. It is better that EM don't give false hope by allowing petition threads to remain.

Funny thing is, if we are to believe what was said just a few posts up, another source says that someone from Eidos has indicated if we make enough noise we 'could' get Stephen back.
You seem to be saying there is absolutely no hope and to give up, when there is ALWAYS hope,
no matter how grim a situation in life may actually be. I've been there,
done that, and believe me...this is small beans compared to a lot of stuff I've
gone up against in life.
thiefessa on 9/4/2013 at 19:55
I am not saying anything... I am repeating what EM have said.
The post above may very well offer hope; but it contradicts what EM have resolutely told us, no?

Let's keep making noise. Even if it leads nowhere, it's still better than doing nothing and just accepting this betrayal.
Renzatic on 9/4/2013 at 21:39
Betrayal might be putting it on a little too strongly, but yeah. Keep making noise. You obviously won't be getting any help from the Eidos forums, but you've still got NeoGAF, Destructoid, and quite a few other PC strong sites you can hit up.
1200 signatures is impressive, but it's nowhere near enough to get EM to stand up and take notice.
