Not sure I understand your point. How can this gesture counteract any unwanted pro-SR protest when there is plenty of that all over the internet already.

All this serves to do is to create a psychological subtext of..."Thank you Mr. Russell for your past work with THIEF, your done now, so let this be a happy, farewell resolve"...Which of course is why Eidos is not censoring this, because in effect, it serves to counteract any unwanted pro-SR protest, with the accepting underlying resolve of "letting Stephen Russell go".
Indeed. Nice how it ended up in this Petition Poll. ;) If were on the Eidos boards the post would suddenly be relocated to another thread where it would be buried in a sea of unrelated posts. lol
If I sound bitter, I'm not. I find it all rather amusing to be honest. Just kidding around. Sometimes laughter is all ya got.

Can you define what you meant by 'agenda' please, because I'm not talking about people who might rave like lunatics in their message. Saying something along the lines of, 'I feel EM made a mistake not having you back, you will be missed', is a different way of expressing their appreciation. I certainly hope things like that
won't be censored because it's equally important that hears that people aren't just saying, "tough luck, seeya" and that they are actually hurting about this. I know I am.
Agenda as in all the nasty over-dramatic stuff, profanity, slander etc. you know... that type of nonsense.
The examples you give are fine and similar ones already exist on the official forum now (skaadi's thread).

Ok good, cause those were the ones I was referring too.

To be clear, it won't have any significant impact on the general sentiment, yet, it does serve as a vehicle to alter the mindset of the circumstances, to one of resolve and acceptance regarding SR and NuThief...this is why it is being allowed by Eidos.
thiefessa on 7/4/2013 at 01:48
Of course its allowed by Eidos. Its an idea from a fan. It isn't EM's idea... so not sure where you're coming from with regard to mindset change etc.
Skaadi asked about starting a thread to thank Stephen Russell for his work on Thief. EM wanted to reach out and say they personally think that it's a really nice idea so they offered to pass on the community messages directly to Stephen on the communities behalf, via a digital thank you card.
EM invite people to share what they liked about his work, their favorite lines or Garrett-isms and what they'll always remember his work fondly for - stuff like that.
So, you know, its a thread to be specifically used for expressing words of thanks to Stephen Russell for his work.
Any other kind of protest going on is completely unrelated.

You're not understanding what I'm saying...I'm not saying this is an idea created by Eidos, it is being allowed to stay by Eidos because it happens to serve their interest, rather than being against it, like the petition for Stephen Russell to come back, for example...That would never be allowed to stay, because it doesn't serve Eidos' interests.

There are lots of negative posts on the official forum that don't serve EM's interest, to be fair. So long as they stay within the ToU, they remain.
The petition to bring back Mr Russell is not allowed, no. That is because EM have chosen their voice actor.
Personally speaking, I am glad the petition is not allowed on the official forum as I would find it disrespectful to Romano.
Goldmoon Dawn on 7/4/2013 at 04:48
Oh, so now Romano is more important than Stephen Russell?! Well hell, we certainly dont want to disrespect the new guy!
