Also, while we are on the subject, I personally did not appreciate Garrett becoming a clichéd brown-haired thirtysomething with a stubble.

Wasn't that exactly what he was in the original games, though? Maybe a bit older than that. I could have sworn some readables pinned him around his late 30s or a bit older. The new way Garrett looks in the new game is very similar to what he looked in the old games. Still think Stephen Russell should voice him, though. Not getting the old actor when he's still available and can still do the voice is really pissing in the cheerios of the older fans and wouldn't put off any new players.

Nope, the new one looks like it could be lifted straight from Ass Creed or Uncharted. The Garrett in the originals very much stayed in the shadows and didn't have a clear age or look.
Just take a look at the following example. Does this remind you of New Garrett?

I was thinking more T2 box art (to a lesser degree T1 & Gold boxarts,) in-game model from T1 & T2, T2 & TDS cutscenes (where he looks similar to the model from T1&2 as well as the boxart) as a comparison point. Strangely the TDS in-game model makes him look even older but doesn't match up with the character in the cutscenes which looks more similar to the previous works.

That's exactly my point -- there wasn't a defining look for Garrett in the originals. Keeping him in the shadows and not letting people have a clear look at him created an air of mystery about him. TDS pretty much ruined it with its butt ugly cutscenes.
They don't just look and dress differently, they also have a different demeanor. The original Garrett was rugged and confident, sometimes overly so. The new Garrett seems to be a cocky poseur.

This has been an extremely weak argument from the beginning - what about the German, French, Italian, etc versions of the game? They'll just dub the new voice in, making the stunts argument completely useless.
As far as the EFIGS translation point is concerned, no other country has ever even had a consistent voice actor as far as I know, so the Stephen Russell thing is completely irrelevant to them. Also, the game is developed solely with English speakers in mind, and translations are secondary. Translations are NOT how the game is intended to be experienced, for obvious reasons.

And by the way, I am greatly anticipating this game, but that doesn't mean I'm just going to nod my head and say OK to everything EM does, like you are. If I see something I don't like, I'm going to bring it up. And guess what happens when people do that? EM gets rid of QTEs and XP systems, for starters. If everyone was just as accepting of everything as you seem to be, these changes wouldn't have been made. You've even admitted that they're dumbing things down. You're just settling for less, for whatever reason I don't know.
There's a huge difference between constructive criticism, which is what caused the improvements as far as QTE and XP system removal, and just being an outright dick and proclaiming the game to be horrible and a piece of crap. It's not like whining harder about swimming, jumping, leaning, and Stephen Russell will make them suddenly change their minds and delay the game by a year and spend millions more on development just to make a handful of fans on an obscure old forum happy. They've designed the game the way they want to as far as movement systems, and they're happy with who they've cast and the reasons they've cast him. It makes no logistical or financial sense at this point to recast the role, as they've already paid the current actor, spent money recording and editing his lines, and it would be retarded of them to respend that money on a new actor for no good reason. That is why they ignore your opinion, and don't care about your petition, and never will.

I'm confused, which game is a blasphemous wart on the ass of the franchise? TDS or the new one?

Something tells me that Stephen Russell wouldn't cost millions. Much more than a "handful of old fans on an obscure old forum" appreciate his work.
I really don't think the creator of this poll ever entertained the delusion that it would actually change anything. Well, not at this point at least. But take a look at what happened with Hitman and you can see that the original creation of this poll was not a bad idea. They had changed their voice actor and fan complaints caused them to go back to the original.
This poll wasn't a waste at all. Because of the outcry from fans, Stephen Russell himself came to the forum and thanked everyone for their support. Even if it only contributed to that, then it was a success, in my opinion.
Nothing against Mr. Orzari personally, but we can only judge by what we've heard thus far and it hasn't been great (or very good, really). I haven't played the game (and I plan to still pick it up day 1 and enjoy it for what it is, mind you), but hearing his voice in several of the demos was pretty grating. He clumsily stumbles over lines and the delivery isn't great. Really, he sounds like any other 30 something gritty male protagonist.
I understand it's a "reboot" so there are bound to be changes to the character I guess. I'm okay with that, but I don't think some of the changes were for the better and this was most certainly one of them.
There's a reason stuntmen are stuntmen and not actors.

Random Taffer pretty much summed it up with his Hitman example, but yes, of course nothing will change this time around. But if there's a Thief 5, you can bet they'll consider some changes based on the community reviews and opinions of the game. They'd be stupid not to.
And I know you love to believe the only people complaining are the ones on an "obscure old forum" aka TTLG, but wake up - there are complaints all across the web on this one - Facebook, Youtube, Press previews, and even more so on the official forums. So don't even try pulling the "stop acting like NMA" bullshit, it just makes you look stupid.

If there is a Thief 5, then it will be Ozari from here on out, you can count on that. If they won't put Stephen back in his rightful place for this game, then it's never going to happen again.

TDS is the worst game in the series. The reboot is the contender for the title.
