I don't think jtr is trolling, I think he's just genuinely upset that the New Thief won't be an exact carbon copy of T1/T2.

Can we cancel the petition now? that would be even bigger news on the internet if after seeing the gameplay we say 'actually.....forget it!' :p
Honestly, as it has been said, it's a no win situation even if the petition succeeds, since the game isn't turning out to be as bad as we thought -
it's turning out to be worse. Also, even if I wanted to cancel the petition, I can't. The petition doesn't exactly belong to me, it belongs to all the people who have signed it and are supporting it. I can't simply cancel out all those votes simply because I've personally changed my mind.

I'd give my vote for a petition to not put Stephen Russell in the game at this point.
That made me chuckle. But yeah, at this point, I wouldn't mind having Stephen Russell be as far away from this game as possible either. Though, who knows, maybe he would make it bearable to play.

REGARDING THE PETITION: I would recommend that we still fight for it on principal, as it represents community righteousness and resolve...serving to bring awareness to EM's misguided efforts.
I agree with you. Even though this story isn't looking like it'll have a happy ending, we should see this thing through to the end to show we strongly disagree with Eidos' decisions. It might not do much, but it'll at least give them something to think about, which is enough.

Well, considering they've gone and changed their mind on Water Arrows...perhaps we can still create enough of an impact to make them think twice about Stephen Russell. I would still hate to see a Thief title without him.

Yeah, that certainly was a pleasing development. :D

Begs the question - can you be a troll without knowing you are one? You could argue that I'm a troll sometimes (I'm certainly often a total, total jerk) especially when jtrhatecrew start frothing at their keyboards. I suppose thats the burden of self awareness though :(

trollin' aint easy, but it's necessary...

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I don't want a Thief game that doesn't have Stephen in it either. But... Is this really a Thief game?

Based on what we have seen so far, we are presented with various things such as fast movements instead of slow stealth, quite different characterization for the protagonist, a disregard for or a reimagining of much of the previous lore, designated rope arrow shoot spots, XP for headshots, RPG progression, press X to takedown, ternary lightgem, third person segments, Batman vision, blackjack combat with VATS, loot glint, ultraviolence (setting guards on fire and dropping statues and chandeliers on them), and it has QTE sequence(s?) to top it all off.
Plus of course it misses some of the stuff that made the first games so memorable, such as Stephen Russell's characters, Eric Brosius's music and the minimalistic storytelling.
Now I'm sure not everyone regards all of those things as unthiefy, but they do give us a pretty big list to choose from, don't they?

I think hiring Bruno Ganz to angrily splutter Garrett's lines in German would be brilliant. Maybe DLC?

:laff:...Thanks, Yandros.
