Pretty much this.
Yep. I have no idea why the arguments assume the superficial.

He got venture capitalists on board, though.
Maybe. But why have they decided to invest into the game? Perhaps, they just are pretty confident in Chris Roberts. So, if somebody of ex-Thief developers would
really want to create a true spiritual successor of Thief, maybe that person would find another venture capitalists or another sources of money?

Publishers don't care about if a game was successful in the past.
Not all of them, I think. Look at the Bethesda trying to revive the Wolfenstein brand (1992).
Quote Posted by Starker
They just assume nobody wants to play space sims any more... or horror games or adventure games or stealth games...
And yet Bethesda is still working on The Evil Within.

I mean, come on -- they rejected the Wasteland 2 project that had some of the original Fallout people on board.
Perhaps, Wasteland 2 was a small enough project to be interesting for publishers.

That alone should show just how short-sighted publishers have become. They only care about games that could make hundreds of millions of dollars in a very short time.
Thank god, some of are still trying to experiment by investing in projects like Dishonored.
Chade: Thanks for the link :). I hope, sooner or later, some of them will decide to act.

He doesn't sound interested in that interview. He sounds like he wants to be interested, but "to make an immersive sim which I’m really excited about, we have to look deeper into the future and make something that would have genuinely surprised the living shit out of everyone at Looking Glass working on Thief."
Not gonna happen. Keep knocking on that door and stop buying games that fall short like devs are charity cases and there will be something real to hope for, not a dream you expect others to fulfill.

Romano pipes up a couple times during play and sounds just as out-of-place as we'd feared.
The game has 99 problems, and the voice remains one.
For the bits that were spoken in the trailer, it was plain that Stephen Russell is integral to the character. A shame that his absence is trivialized.

Good god. Do you actually think people who still buy games only do so because they don't know any better, or feel sorry for the developers?
I don't know what world you live in, but it's not where the rest of us reside. That's for damn sure.

Guy talking with low husky voice, with cynicism, weariness, but a fondness for his trade--stock and generic. I'm curious to hear how "optional" the frequency of nuG's voice-overs really are, and if we can mod them out, like how people who prefer to play on Normal want to get rid of the text overlays in Act I of TMA.

Pretentious, needlessly arrogant, disdainful, close minded, actively hateful, and frequently abuses the rolleyes emote--bog standard jackass on the internet.
You know, I really wish you'd ignore this part of the forum entirely. You don't ever contribute anything to the conversations around here. Well, nothing besides sneery comments consisting of nothing but half assed assumptions based on very little evidence. Something the entire world could use less of.
You're never going to like the game, you never intended to like the game, and you're never going to play the game. Why don't you just go away? Run back to Thiefgen so the rest of us can actually enjoy the forum without having to interrupt a conversation to address whatever stupid crap you've decided to post?

Perhaps we could start a new petition for this!

http://s3.postimg.org/kwtffbooz/petition1.jpgONWARD!!!Seriously though, I too wonder what jtldr's motivations for posting here are. He does post something sensible every now and then, and I actually find his contributions more than welcome when that's the case, but normally it really does feel like he's just here for trolling, and that's a shame. He seems to know a lot about the Thief lore and stuff, but I can't even be bothered to read his posts anymore because his elitist/arrogant attitude just sucks.

Perfectly put, and without the unfortunate nasty vitriol that I would have spewed.
