Since I've been playing some Paradox Games, especially Victoria 2, I've been reading their forums & other forums on alt-history, and they all have this lovely phrase called "Alien Space Bats" (ASB). It means when something happens in history that's fun to think about but has little to no chance in the real world. So we imagine Alien Space Bats came down to earth & engineered it to happen just for the fan service of pleasing us. The more improbable it is, the more Alien Space Bats it takes to do, so things can get an ASB ranking of probability.
Now when people come up with these ideas for Thief4, I sometimes think of how many ASBs have to come down to do it, haha. This idea, and fans hiring Stephen Russel to do some voicing, and a few others are those sorts of ideas. Fun to think about, but we're talking about more than a few ASBs coming down to do it. ;) :laff:
Maybe somebody knows a good spell to call them.

I'm sure there is one in Ultima.

While the voice actress is/was Jen Taylor, not Mackenzie Mason. Proving that yet another multi-million making game, which sold over 8 million copies in the past 2-3 releases, could do both mo-cap and have the voice of a person other than the mo-cap actor/actress put over it, and still do so well.
Well there you go. More proof that this whole change is bs.

I prefer the "Zombie Demons from Outer Space" in Max Payne 2 :p

Yeah, but there's a huge difference between Arkane and the monster that is EM. You're talking < 50 employees vs. 300+.
Yeah, and LGS only had about 60 employees working on TDP, if I'm not mistaken. Monster is right! Somehow I don't see 300 people, each with their own views and opinions about how T4 should be developed, listening to us. Maybe in the beginning, because from what I've read/seen the original T4 devs were very much in touch with us and with what Thief is all about. But that's where things started falling apart due to 'alleged' disagreements within the T4 team, people leaving (or being fired?), ideas and basic work on the game being rewritten, revised, if not totally thrown in the trash. I wonder if from the beginning, the aim of EM was to create a reboot, a 'modern, updated' version of Thief, or if that decision came later after much of the work from the original T4 devs was trashed or rewritten. If that had been EM's plan all along - to create a reboot - could those initial disagreements perhaps stemmed from EM's decision? I could honestly see that happening.
It bothers me that there are devs on the T4 team who seem to be throwing in this and that because they think it's cool and they think that's what all gamers want nowadays. As I said before, they're not listening to us anymore.

The team working on DX:HR grew to ~150, but only in the last six months, during the second extension of the dev cycle. The other employees are management, marketing, reception, human resources, the other two teams, and other various support. And they have to work with other companies, not the least of which is the publisher, who happens to own them, too.

Well, think I'm about done with the official forums by now... but then you all beat me to that a long time ago xD, it's just a repetitive cycle over there full of bleeding heart apologists and mods feeling the need to throw things right back in your face, misconstruing each of my statements. It's not that it took me this long to realize that's all it is, but i'm tired of it at last. "EM has already made it's decision on Stephen Russell (repeated about a hundred thousand times like I don't understand, as if repeating it will make me smile and accept it)... so what point do you even want to make?", about sums up the situation and thoughts there :bored:. Might drop by there now and again to annoy them where possible, bringing up their lack of common sense, but for the most part, I'm gonna be here.
Whatever, things have always been more interesting here anyways

Well, you tried! :laff:
I just check to see if someone there's dug up something no one here has yet. :)

The official forums are a craphole. I only get angry when I read them, most of the constructive suggestions or opinoins of people who know the series and love it are buried beneath endless piles of drivel, and threads such as "Ezio vs. Garrett" and Stephen Russell wars.

I think we'll have to create a complaint site for dumping mutual disdain, since we continue to dump here only knowing we are in good company who understands, but also knowing EM sees it.
