hey :)
the forums seem to work really well... even searches... until i use an asterisk as a wild card... the search page (or applicable forum page) doesn't move and then i can't load anything on the site for a few minutes.
it doesn't seem to just be coincidence... so thought i'd post here in case you're noticing something funny.
cheers!

Worksforme. Wildcarded searches don't behave any differently than the ones with full keywords.
Please post exact steps to reproduce the problem, actual results, expected results, browser, time and the whole shebang.

well, my original search query was "ai die* standing" but i tried with different search terms putting in an asterisk and it did it with others as well.. and the time was when i posted my original post here... but i tried again now and it still behaves the same way.
i did this search from the bottom of the editors' guild forum and also from the main search page without changing any of the other default search settings.
searches as such had always worked before for me.
i'm using internet explorer 5.0
actual results were nothing...
waiting for 5 minutes and the page has still not moved (when a search without the * took a couple seconds... i think 5 minutes was long enough to at least get the "impatient" screen thing). after this... no page in the forum would load for a few minutes... the same sort of behaviour as if the server was down. it's definitely nothing to do with my internet connection... and like i said, the forums behave normally and are not slow at all otherwise.
expected results... a few more threads than the search for "ai die standing" resulted in :)
i just tried again with netscape 6.2.2 and it behaved the same way (and afterward, could not load the forums for a few minutes in either browser).
odd that it works for you... wonder if my search terms would as well.
cheers!

I searched with raetsel's term in phoenix. After submitting, I did not get an intermediary screen, but the document with the search mask stalled. The status bar showed <q>Transferring data from ttlg.com...</q>. After a while, the document was replaced with a frugal error document:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 90 seconds exceeded in C:\www\vbulletin\search.php on line 400
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 90 seconds exceeded in C:\www\vbulletin\admin\functions.php on line 2332
On second try:
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 90 seconds exceeded in C:\www\vbulletin\search.php on line 401
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 90 seconds exceeded in C:\www\vbulletin\admin\functions.php on line 2332
This was around 4:25 - 4:33 CET.

I get the same things as Daxim and raetsel in Mozilla. :weird:
And then I can't search for anything or load a page for about 2 minutes on TTLG...much longer than the usual 10 second delays or so. Really strange.
